Taweelah Asia Power Company (TAPCO), a key player in the energy sector, was established as one of the largest Independent Water and Power Producers (IWPP) following the privatization of the Abu Dhabi Water & Electricity Authority (ADWEA). As of 2023, TAPCO contributes significantly, producing over 23% of Abu Dhabi’s total water and 8% of the Emirate’s power needs. This substantial contribution supports the local power grid and aligns with the UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050, a testament to our commitment to the nation’s future.
With 2.2 gigawatts of installed power generation capacity and 162 million imperial gallons of water per day of installed water desalination capacity, TAPCO is unwavering in its commitment to operational excellence and world-class quality, health, safety, and environmental standards. The plant’s three distinct power generation and desalination facilities, enable us to support the growth of the UAE by providing reliable, secure, and efficient water and electricity to our community.
Over the past two decades, the plant has evolved significantly to meet the growing demands of the UAE. With a total number of 177 employees, we are proud to attract top talent who help drive the evolution of our facility. TAPCO is also strongly committed to Emiratization and invests in its UAE national employees, who comprise 47% of the total employees, through various initiatives in collaboration with government stakeholders and international partners.
